Foot and Ankle Pain Treatment

Get through the first steps of the morning pain-free

Foot and Ankle Pain Treatment
Overview

What is joint pain?

Your feet absorb thousands of impacts a day, so heel, arch and Achilles pain quickly become disabling. Nerve pain in the forefoot is also commonly missed.

We diagnose with a loading exam and ultrasound, then treat the plantar fascia, tendon, joint or nerve that is actually generating the pain.

Common symptoms

  • Sharp heel pain on the first steps of the morning
  • Achilles pain that warms up then returns
  • Burning or electric pain between the toes
  • Ankle stiffness and swelling after walking
  • Pain that forces you out of certain shoes

What causes it

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel fat pad irritation
  • Achilles tendinopathy
  • Ankle osteoarthritis or old sprain damage
  • Morton's neuroma and tarsal tunnel compression
  • Fallen arches and poor footwear loading

FAQs

Foot and Ankle Pain Treatment questions, answered

Should I rest completely?+
No — controlled loading heals tendon and fascia pain faster than rest.
Do steroid injections weaken the Achilles?+
We avoid injecting into the Achilles itself and use shockwave and loading instead.
Are custom orthotics necessary?+
Not always. We start with footwear advice and off-the-shelf supports where they'll do the job.
